Rally exercises are similar to many of those performed in
Obedience. In Rally, the dog and handler go thru a course of 10-20
stations, each identified by a sign which tells the team
what to do at each station. Stations
have instructions
like "Down your dog and walk around" or "Weave thru a series of cones".
An advanced UKC rally course will chose from over 50 different
instructions to be done at each station. Each dog and handler starts
with a score of 100 and points are deducted from that. Although the
course is timed, time is not used unless there is a tie in the number
of points. It is more important to perform each station accurately than
it is to do it fast.
